Hena Khan is a Pakistani-American author who first wrote about the Eid holiday in her family newspaper, The Khanicles, during second grade. Since then she has written for audiences larger than just her parents, and she particularly enjoys writing books for children. She lives in Rockville, Maryland, with her husband and two sons.

Hena was moved to write this book by a desire for Muslim-American children, including her own, to identify with the story of Yasmeen and her family as they celebrate a very special time of the year. She also hoped to share some of the cultural traditions of Ramadan and Eid with people from other backgrounds, and to foster understanding of the Muslim-American community.

Hena is available to give presentations on the book, and tailors her discussion to adults and children of all ages. Contact Hena
